Wildfire

In the event of a wildfire, personal safety is the highest priority. Compliance with evacuation orders is critical to ensure the safety of homeowners and first responders. You can take precautions before a wildfire to minimize damage to your home.

Preventative Measures:

  • Remove brush and fuel sources.
  • Close structure entryways such as garage doors and windows.
  • Move woodpiles and debris away from all structures.
  • Clean gutters and roofs of debris.

Wildfire Defense Systems

We are proud to partner with Wildfire Defense Systems, the largest private-sector wildfire response company in the nation. When granted access by fire officials and when wildfire conditions allow for a safe operating environment, WDS may provide pre-suppression protection and mitigation services to your home. We include this service at no additional charge for Executive Classic or Executive Capstone™ policyholders in AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, ND, NV, OR, TX, UT and WA.

During a wildfire event, WDS may dispatch fire mitigation crews and engines, certified through the National Wildfire Coordinating Group, to visit potentially threatened properties to complete mitigation work before the fire arrives. WDS’s operations center, with experienced wildfire duty officers who monitor fire activity and determine when to deploy mitigation services, operates 24/7, 365 days a year. If WDS responds to a fire threatening your property, pre-suppression mitigation actions may include:

  • Nondestructive fuel mitigation
  • Removal of combustible storage items or furniture around the outside of the home
  • Sprinkler system set-up
  • Sealing non-mechanical home vents with fire-resistive tape
  • Application of fire-blocking gel or retardant
  • Protecting structures from post-fire residual threats

The WDS crews will return to properties where they provided pre-suppression actions for post-fire cleanup and assessment.

While we cannot guarantee that WDS will be able to provide pre-suppression mitigation services for all properties threatened during a wildfire, we have invested in this partnership to offer an additional layer of protection to our policyholders.
